“Grace to help in time of need…”. This phrase has been running through my mind so often lately. I’ve whispered it to myself while standing wearily in front of yet another sink full of dirty dishes or trudging my third-trimester body up the stairs to rest for a bit. The words are a beautiful, hope-filled promise of God’s abundantly available grace to me in my need and insufficiency.
“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens,
Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.“
Hebrews 4:16, ESV
This isn’t a long blog post (more of those to come soon!), but I hope it’s encouragement to you, dear reader, that in whatever circumstances you find yourself in… Jesus and His grace are fully available to you. It’s simply a portion of Scripture that has been on my heart and a smattering of recent “daily life” photos. I completely let go of blogging during the weeks of morning sickness that started the day after Christmas and continued til around 17 weeks… and then never got back into it. Lord willing, I’ll be writing for the blog more often and am excited about the content I have planned for upcoming weeks!
I’m currently 31 weeks along in my pregnancy and so eager to meet this baby! We are planning our third home birth with an amazing Christian midwife who was also our midwife for Chloe and Elliot’s births. Next month, I’m planning to share a little on what it looks like to prepare for a home birth and what we like about the midwifery model of care.
My recent Goodwill find, a $3.99 floral flat sheet. We were needing a new one and I was so happy with how the floral coordinated with our other bedding. I think my overall home decor style tends toward the “country cottage” look. I like pretty things a little too much to every go with the minimalist style!
Rolling out sourdough tortillas the other night to go with our simple “make your own burrito” night. We love these tortillas, but I am definitely wanting to invest in a press soon so that I can knock them out more quickly.
Chloe is officially learning to read! We are using the book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, and really enjoying it so far. She hates to miss a single day of her lessons and is very motivated to learn.
Little shoes everywhere. We especially love the cool and comfortable mornings. Even in a small town home complex, the are little areas where the kids love digging in the dirt, hunting for bugs, and an area they call “the trees”, where they love to play and adventure in the shade.
A solo picnic I took a few weeks ago on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
Treasuring this Scripture… this is posted by my kitchen sink where I will see it often and be reminded of its truth. And I sure could use the reminder when approaching a sink full of dishes! ; )
What Scripture are you treasuring these days? I’d love to hear from you!
